The Health Office seeks to make Jayapura Regency free of malaria
The Jayapura District Health Office (Dinkes), Papua Province continues to strive to make this 'Kenamba Umbai' land free of malaria by 2030, one of which is by continuing to massively detect malaria cases.
Head of the Jayapura Regency Health Office Khairul Lie in Sentani said Monday that his party will continue to detect malaria cases through Gebrak Alert Malaria (Siamal) which involves malaria cadres and health center workers.
According to Khairul, currently his team has found 20,000 new malaria cases and the number is expected to increase to 40,000 cases in 2023.
"Until now, the malaria alert officers are still running. Our target is to find 40 thousand cases of malaria. So, if the number of cases is higher, there will be a decrease," he said.
He explained that the malaria alert alert had been implemented since its declaration in October 2022 and going forward it will continue to be carried out so that malaria elimination in 2030 Papua specifically for Jayapura Regency can be realized.
He said if later there was an increase in malaria cases in the area, his party would immediately try to implement prevention, starting from treatment, environmental control and vector control in mosquitoes.
"Indeed, cases of malaria will continue to increase because officers are conducting searches at the same time, but we hope that in this way the transmission can be resolved, at least it can be treated and the possibility of transmission is small," he said.
He added that his party hopes that with the malaria alert strike in Jayapura Regency, the transmission of these cases will be handled properly.
