TPID Kota Jayapura ensures stocks of basic commodities are safe at Christmas
The Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) for Jayapura City, Papua Province ensured that the availability of basic commodities in the area was safe for Christmas 25 December 2022 and welcoming the New Year 2023.
Acting Mayor of Jayapura Frans Pekey while carrying out unannounced inspections or spot checks with the local TPID at modern and traditional markets as well as monitoring food prices in Jayapura, Friday, said that staple food stocks are guaranteed to be safe until Christmas and New Year 2023.
"From our monitoring, it is certain that the availability of basic commodities will be safe until Christmas and New Year 2023," said Frans Pekey.
In terms of food prices, he said, the commodity price of rice has so far been relatively stable and controlled and even the availability of rice stocks in Jayapura City is safe for the next four months.
According to Pekey, the prices for cooking oil, sugar and wheat flour ahead of Christmas are still quite stable, namely in the range of Rp. 14,000 to Rp. 15,000 per kilogram.
"Meanwhile, the price of local eggs is between Rp. 65,000 to Rp. 75,000 per rack and the price for chili has fallen from Rp. 90,000 to Rp. 75,000 per kilogram, as well as the price of shallots and garlic, which is Rp. 35,000 per kilogram, and there is no increase ahead of Christmas and New Year's Eve. New," he said.
He explained that his party asked distributors to always meet market demand if goods were available in each warehouse so that food price stability must be maintained.
He added that if there is instability in food prices, it will have an impact on the performance of other sectors, especially ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
