Yudo Margono's answer regarding the handling of Papua: TNI is firm but still humane!

TNI Admiral Yudo Margono stated that he would apply a firm but humane approach in dealing with the conflict in Papua. This was conveyed by Yudo after being approved by the DPR to become the Commander of the TNI.

"I said that even though the TNI is firm, it still has to be humane," said Yudo at the Nusantara II Building, the parliament complex, Jakarta, Friday (2/12/2022).
Nevertheless, he said, the approach will be applied differently from each region. According to him, not all regions in Papua are conflict-prone.
 
"Because there are areas that are already relatively conducive, then there are also areas that are still highly vulnerable. So from the operations that were conveyed earlier, of course we will evaluate them," he said.

For your information, Commission I of the DPR approved the nomination of TNI Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI Commander to replace General Andika Perkasa. Approval was given at the DPR's Commission I internal meeting after the fit and proper test of Yudo, Friday (2/12/2022).

"Giving approval for the appointment of the candidate for TNI Commander, Admiral Yudo Margono, as TNI Commander," said Commission I Chair Meutya Hafid when explaining the results of the fit and proper test.
